An early task for today: check mail.

Problem: mailbox is frozen shut.

Pull harder.

Keyring fastener shears in half, leaving the key in the lock still in its original position and other keys plinging to the ground.

… I guess I will not be going to space today.

Edit for clarity: I did retrieve all the keys. I just still couldn't get the box open.

Well, it's not just the pandemic for us, but that's what's causing it for many people. There may have been some… impulsively typing “les câlins me manquent” into a search engine and finding a Marie Claire article on touch and health in these times [fr] and one from L'Obs about the curtailment of Santa Claus visits [fr].

Should be writing people. Wonkyxhausted though. Woke up late and didn't get any sun today. Oofh.

In case you haven't seen them, horizon aka [personal profile] baxil did a few posts over on FIMFiction regarding the severe fires spreading through parts of California through much of November. He's a Search & Rescue volunteer in that region, and also a really good writer, so these are well worth reading.

  1. (10 November) “As California burns”, with some sharp words on the political angle
  2. (23 November) “California's Camp Fire”, RCL special interview, including photos
  3. (3 December) “Scenes From a Fire”, followup, grim SAR perspective
