Remember when I said “let us never do it again” a while ago?
I lied. This year we definitely want to make another Cheez-It® Donburi. It seems like it should be appropriate for our initialization day, though that's already past—but we can make it on time next year, maybe.
We got some Bull-Dog brand Japanese Worcestershire sauce at the Korean market yesterday to use instead of the A1. We don't have the Cheez-It® snack crackers yet. I'm beginning to think we should try to do something a little more elaborate this time, or at least change it up. Maybe some simmered sauce with multiple ingredients? datapredator suggested a cheese sauce, but the versions I found were Béchamel variants and roux-based sauces seem like they might be too high-skill for us. (Ey also suggested just taking the powder from a Kraft mac & cheese dinner or something and using that, but that seems like it's going a bit too far. I wonder if Teneb might want to try it.)
Actually, I wonder whether sliced mushrooms and onions fried and then simmered in some sort of Worcestershire-heavy sauce would work well. And then the Cheez-Its. That's close enough to some of our “normal” recipes that it fits in well, too.
I also want to check the cracker box to see if it has recipes we could fit in ingredients from, because that also seems appropriate.
Hmmmm…
